I am a writer/poet, radio commentator who finds his muse on sabbatical. I have just relocated to Jakarta, Indonesia to work as an English Teacher. This is a massive career/life change I undertook with the encouragement of a number dear friends and a very insistent Universe that convinced me the time had come to kick the door down. Besides, I had just turned 50. What better time to begin.

It isn't easy for me to describe myself, but several years ago I was listening to Bob Dylan sing some traditional folk songs while I sat at my computer. I wrote a poem that cuts to the bone of my existance.
AUTOBIOGRAPHY
tonight i'm listening to dylan sing
blood in my eyes
by the mississippi sheiks
i'm surfing the net trying to find a url
that will give me a sense of destiny
i'm searching for a definition
a paradigm
the means to
create and patent an archetype
my parents brothers and their families
are all baptists
baptist wives
baptist children
deacons and promise keepers
wearing leather bracelets
with the initials
wwjd
like a homing device
to herd the sheep
i am a kashmir shaivite
single closet heterosexual
i enjoy sleep
yogic dreams
on the astral plane
involved in corporate espionage
flying from trees to board rooms
to procure encrypted scripture
agreeing on a soul level
to die in a hospital bombed
by some paranoid militia drone
i'm part of a subculture
sick of comparing legacies
like seventh graders compare their penises
trust me
my voice is clear
my hands are tragic
i have so little
that when i die
i will have no problem
taking it with me
the cyber ghosts
hungry and bloated
might be pushing me
or they might be laughing
i have to take that chance
i'll stay here in front of this portal
like che on the beach
